scope: Bylas Community Education Center is a Head Start learning and childcare center for local Native American communities. The outdoor area was designed with all age groups and abilities in mind, and includes a play structure for children. The interpretive garden showcases vegetation once used regularly by Apache tribes. The low sweeping seatwalls and seat “buttons” cross a meandering river walk leading to the circular outdoor classroom. The classroom is designed with a basket weave pattern and surrounded by cottonwoods. Collaborated in the overall design and proper representation of Apache culture. Responsible for the construction documents and details, and management of all project phases.
